Mercedes is currently a Philosophy andLiterature student at the University of Warwick. Within her degree, she is focussed on the philosophy of nature and how literature is used as a means of bettering our relationship to the environment.

Outside of her academics, she is interested in secondhand clothing and promoting more sustainable ways of shopping. She ran an online business selling secondhand clothes that she sourced from online retailers and clothes she had made out of second hand fabric.

She also volunteered at a local charity redistributing unused supermarket food to local schools and organisations in need. Food waste and more sustainable ways of eating are also a particular interest of Mercedes', leading to interest in plant based foods and recipes.
