Introducing Better Planet Schools
Better Planet Schools is an online environmental education programme for children and teachers in the UK's primary schools. We're seeing more and more evidence of how it's creating real, positive changes in outlook and behaviour among students.
But don't take our word for it!  Here are some quotes from teachers who are using the programme:
‍
““Having set up a new Eco Warriors team in my school, we
began with the Plastic and Waste module. The school has been really enthused by the new eco drive! We have ensured we are recycling more efficiently as a school by having clearly marked and separate bins. The eco warriors also collect their class' used pens and glue sticks for recycling every week. We have also signed up to a council-run recycling scheme! The eco warriors organise regular litter picks around the school - we are hoping to branch out into the local area next year.”

“Better Planet Schools has been a go-to resource for our school lunchtime club, we’ve been able to create challenges for the children to complete that fit our needs. The programme is packed with relevant information and activities that the children can access and understand. We highly recommend Better Planet Schools to other schools; our display boards are packed with informative children’s work, but most of all the children want to do it and enjoy doing it.Â

“All the exciting activities offered by Better Planet schools were carried out by ourschool’s Eco team. The activities have really encouraged the girls to learn more about taking care of our world and have significantly enhanced their learning by providing hands-on, experiential education.”

The programme aims to engage students and teachers to learn about and take action on key issues like saving energy to tackle climate change; reducing use of plastics and other waste and increasing recycling; fast fashion; air pollution; and creating new habitats for wildlife to thrive. Schools choose three modules per year, with each module lasting a school term. With new modules being created each year, children and schools can be engaged year after year in learning more about key environmental issues and how they can make a difference with their actions.
