Daisy is in her final year of Sixth Form at Hills Road Sixth Form College. She is currently studying Geography, English Literature and Sociology, and hopes to study human Geography at University.
During the summer of 2022, Daisy embarked on a charity trip to Cambodia with World Challenge. She had to raise £4,100 in order to go for three weeks and in this time, she volunteered doing mangrove conservation where she had to collect mangrove saplings, put the saplings in biodegradable bags and then plant them in the ocean. Just by being there, she managed to support the local community and her eyes were opened to the beauty of the natural world. This inspired her to want a career in conservation in the future. The trip also entailed trekking through the Cambodian jungle and visiting Angkor Wat and by the end of the trip, she had offset more carbon than she released.Â
Daisy tries to implement ways of being more sustainable in her everyday life through recycling, reducing food waste and buying second hand. She believes that any positive changes you can make, no matter how big or small, to help the environment are important.
She hopes that in her role as a young trustee that she will share her enthusiasm for the environment with other young people and educate people about the importance of our planet.
